Jay Z leads list of Rap Nominees

T.I. and Kanye West will headline this month's event performances with recently unveiled material. New York City’s Barclays Center in Brooklyn generally plays host to the entire home games of NBA’s Brooklyn Nets team, but on 25th August, the passes with be of astronaut and microphones awards at the MTV Video Music Awards 2013 event.

Brooklyn would not only be the setting for the event, but it would thoroughly represented inside, as hometown star Jay Z is up for a nomination for his work alongside singer and actor Justin Timberlake on their video “Suit & Tie.” Another star at the event will be Jay Z’s onetime protégé and the Watch The Throne partner Kanye West will perform for a record setting 7th time.

There will be a series of other Hip Hop stars along with Kanye West getting on in action, including Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for their popular track “Can’t Hold Us,” J Cole for “Power Trip,” and Drake for “Started From The Bottom,” that are all in the racing for the Best Hip Hop Video of the year. This trio is all up against Rocky's "F--kin' Problems" posse cut that includes Kendrick Lamar.

The Rap and R&B genre also has a very strong scope to get Video Of The Year award, as Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines", Macklemore's "Thrift Shop," compete against Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake and Bruno Mars vids in that category.
